👋 Welcome back. The deal-makers didn't take a summer breather this week — $4.4 billion changed hands in power electronics alone, water utilities kept consolidating, and ag investors wrote checks for everything from seaweed cattle feed to warehouse drones. Grab a coffee; this one's about a four-minute read.

☕ First, this week's paid edition: Root Deal

Our premium AgTech Intelligence Brief broke down CropX's biggest acquisition yet, Indigo Agriculture spinning off its ENAI unit, BFG Supply's Chapter 11 filing, and NADEC's $22.7M greenhouse deal — plus a fresh wave of ag funding shaping how farms get financed and run.

🏆 The Scorecard

  • Flex agreed to buy EPC Power for $4.4B — the week's headline deal and a direct bet on grid modernization and AI power demand.

  • Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners paid ~$1.1B for Australia's Gawara Baya wind-and-battery project, while Orrön Energy and Cloudberry merged into a Nordic power heavyweight.

  • Fervo Energy signed a record 396MW geothermal power deal with Google.

  • Missouri American Water closed its $34.5M Neosho acquisition as water-utility M&A kept rolling.

  • Ag capital stayed busy: Corvus Robotics ($20M), Odyssey Energy ($74M) and Japan's Sunshiki all raised.

The big deals

Flex is buying EPC Power for $4.4B, absorbing the North American maker of grid-scale inverters and power-conversion systems used in utility solar and storage. Why it matters: it's the clearest sign yet that money is flowing toward the unglamorous hardware that actually moves electrons — the real bottleneck as AI data centers and electrification push demand up.

Sugar-and-ethanol giant Adecoagro closed its ~$148M purchase of the Caarapó Mill from Raízen, folding it into its Mato Grosso do Sul cluster. Renewables consolidation ran hot across Europe and Oceania: Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners bought Australia's Gawara Baya wind-plus-battery project for around $1.1B, and Orrön Energy completed its tie-up with Cloudberry Clean Energy to form a ~2.1 TWh Nordic independent power producer.

Water and waste stayed in roll-up mode. Missouri American Water completed its $34.5M acquisition of Neosho's water and wastewater systems, and NWPX Infrastructure bought conveyor maker Serpentix. Reworld snapped up three Long Island environmental-services firms, while Ecowaste Solutions tucked in Compass Waste in Texas. In software, Energy Exemplar acquired SIMONE Research Group and LIWACOM to extend into gas-network modeling.

A few firsts rounded out the week: Romania's DN AGRAR made its first move into horticulture with a lettuce-greenhouse buy, and two clean-energy names hit the public markets — SB Energy filed for an IPO, and Israel's Turbogen began trading on the Nasdaq.

Powering down

Ecobat completed the sale of its lithium-recycling business, including its Casa Grande, Arizona operations, to refocus on its core lead-battery recycling — a reminder that not every battery bet is paying off yet.

Follow the money

The biggest checks went to the grid and emerging markets. Odyssey Energy Solutions raised $74M to finance distributed renewables across Asia, Africa and Latin America; Light pulled in $46M for embedded-electricity products; and Gridsight landed a $26M Series B led by Insight Partners for AI grid-capacity software. On the balance-sheet side, TXNM Energy priced a $400M stock offering, Olam's ingredients arm ofi raised a $100M private note, and Global Water Resources secured $20M in fresh liquidity, while Delafield Energy and Rosemawr set up financing for storage-project interconnection.

Ag and climate rounds kept coming: Corvus Robotics raised $20M led by Catalyst Investors for warehouse inventory drones, Japan's Sunshiki closed a pre-seed for seaweed-based cattle-methane feed, and Molten Salt Solutions raised $7M for nuclear-grade lithium enrichment. Grants and incentives filled in the rest — Napa Green's $3M for regenerative vineyards, the Mars Impact Fund's $13M across six partnerships, an NSF grant for biopesticide maker Innatrix, a $50M DOE award tied to AM Batteries, and a Utah incentive backing A1 Lithium's ~$569M Green River project.

Around the sectors

⚡ On the grid

Nuclear kept its momentum: Studsvik picked GE Vernova Hitachi and Samsung C&T to build 1.2GW of new capacity in Sweden, Holtec started loading fuel toward a first-of-its-kind Palisades restart in Michigan, and Raven-Flint was tapped by the DOE to build America's second uranium-conversion plant. Solar and storage sprawled across the map — Cypress Creek's Ostrea project reached commercial operation on a Microsoft PPA, OCI Energy broke ground on a 347MW project near Houston, and Sungrow and POWERCHINA deepened storage and wind buildouts in Egypt. Great Basin Transmission broke ground on a 285-mile Western intertie, and Fervo Energy's record 396MW geothermal deal with Google underscored the scramble for firm, clean power.

💧 In the water

Utilities kept spending on the pipes. Envocore won a role in Puerto Rico's island-wide water-meter overhaul, while California American Water ($8.6M in Citrus Heights) and West Virginia American Water ($900K in Charleston) pushed local upgrades. AgriCapture and Google partnered to shift 6,000 acres of Texas rice to water-saving irrigation, and Global Water Challenge expanded its Cargill-backed program into four more countries. PFAS settlement money kept flowing back to customers through Tidewater Utilities and Tennessee American Water.

🌱 In the field

The big seed-and-chemistry names leaned into launches: Bayer kicked off a decade of "blockbuster" product rollouts, Corteva spinoff Vylor unveiled a corn pipeline built around a new yield-stability trait, and ADAMA brought a dual-action insecticide to Latin America. Equipment makers filled the Farm Progress Show floor — AGCO's Fendt, CLAAS, and a CNH–Bourgault seeding alliance — while Nofence launched a next-gen livestock collar and Carbon Robotics opened its autonomy platform to third-party implements. Off the row-crop path, Chobani committed $1.2B to a Pennsylvania dairy campus, and Seattle's Vale Matcha began planting a million-tea-plant farm on Whidbey Island.
