👋 Happy Friday. The dealmakers clearly didn't take the week off — we counted a run of acquisitions, a Nasdaq debut and north of a billion dollars in fresh capital moving across energy, water and agriculture. Grab a coffee; this one's about a four-minute read.
☕ First, this week's paid edition: Under Glass
Our latest premium edition takes the greenhouse sector apart by the numbers. Year-to-date, funding has spread to more companies in smaller checks — $249.7 million across 12 deals — while ownership changes doubled to ten, partnerships piled up past forty, and the map of activity widened from 16 countries to 23. If you want to know where controlled-environment growing is actually heading, the data tells the story.
🏆 The Scorecard
Vanguard Renewables is buying Generate Upcycle's North American sites to build the continent's largest food-waste-to-RNG platform.
newcleo closed its SPAC merger, raised $247 million and began trading on Nasdaq as "NWCL."
H2O America won regulatory clearance to buy the Cibolo Valley wastewater system, roughly doubling its Texas connections.
Standlee and Anderson Hay merged into Standlee-Anderson, a premium-forage heavyweight.
Form Energy closed a $270 million credit facility to scale its iron-air, multi-day batteries.
The big deals
Vanguard Renewables, the on-farm anaerobic-digester operator backed by BlackRock's Global Infrastructure Partners, agreed to acquire Generate Upcycle's North American operations — five sites in upstate New York and Ontario — from Generate Capital, creating what the pair call North America's largest food-waste-to-renewable-natural-gas platform. The combined business will run 19 sites and nearly double Vanguard's processing capacity, with closing expected October 1. (Generate Capital sold its seven UK sites separately to Pinta Energy.)
Why it matters: Organic-waste-to-RNG is quietly consolidating into scaled platforms, and whoever owns the digesters owns a low-cost, policy-advantaged fuel stream just as Canada's clean-fuel market opens up.
newcleo completed its business combination with NewHold Investment Corp III, raising $247 million in gross proceeds and listing on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under NWCL. The lead-cooled fast-reactor and recycled-fuel developer is now valued at about $2.4 billion and has passed $1 billion in total funding, earmarked for its Italian demonstrator and reactor rollout across the U.S. and Europe.
Why it matters: Advanced nuclear keeps finding public-market money, and a Paris-founded reactor company choosing Nasdaq is a tell about where the deepest capital pool for the next reactor wave sits.
Titan International agreed to sell its ITM undercarriage business to Italy's USCO S.p.A. for roughly $285 million in total cash value, sharpening its focus on the core wheel-and-tire business and paying down debt; the deal should close in early January 2027. In premium forage, Standlee and Anderson Hay combined under a new parent, Standlee-Anderson, pooling two of the biggest names in Western and international hay while keeping each brand intact.
On the water side, H2O America's Texas subsidiary cleared regulators to acquire the Cibolo Valley wastewater plant and collection systems from South Central Water Company near [Canyon Lake, Texas], more than doubling its wastewater connections to serve about 90,000 people once the deal closes November 1.
Powering down
A pair of portfolio prunings closed out the deal sheet. EYKON — the former Landis+Gyr EMEA metering division — agreed to sell its water-meter business to Sensus International, freeing EYKON to concentrate on advanced metering and digital utility software while Sensus doubles down as a dedicated water-meter provider (both sit inside the AURELIUS portfolio). And in crop protection, Belgium's Bi-PA sold the Europe, Middle East and Africa rights to its patented TEMAP biofungicide to Nichino Europe, handing the Japanese-owned distributor full control of the product's EMEA registration and sales.
Follow the money
The debt desks were busy. China's Anyang Indorama Gases signed a ~$358 million (RMB 2.4 billion) long-term loan from a five-bank consortium led by OCBC Bank to roughly double urea-fertilizer capacity in [Anyang, China] by 2029. Form Energy closed a $270 million credit facility — led by Barclays and expandable to $1 billion — to scale iron-air storage at its West Virginia plant. And battery developer SMT Energy secured up to $268 million in equity from Climate Adaptive Infrastructure to build out grid-scale storage across the U.S.
On the equity and offtake side, Rainmaker raised a $100 million Series B (NOA VC, Upfront Ventures, DCVC, Lowercarbon Capital) to scale low-cost water production and cloud seeding; Kairos Power lined up as much as $100 million from Samsung C&T to advance its salt-cooled reactor; and Bridge Green Upcycle signed a $500 million-plus recycled-lithium marketing-and-equity deal with Hartree Partners. Smaller checks rounded things out: Fluxnium took $7 million in seed funding (led by Congruent Ventures) to pull uranium from seawater, Vaulted Deep drew $35 million in debt for durable carbon storage, and Fervo Energy won about $20 million in U.S. Department of Energy awards for enhanced geothermal in Idaho and Nevada.
Around the sectors
⚡ On the grid
Manufacturing and hardware led the energy beat. Pylontech kicked off mass production of its 588Ah and 601Ah LFP cells for utility-scale storage in [Hefei, China], while CATL started trial production at its 100 GWh battery plant in [Debrecen, Hungary], its largest outside China. On fuels, Infinium launched an mSAF line that turns methane into aviation fuel, and Haffner Energy unveiled SB-HEFA, a process it says can cut renewable-diesel and SAF costs by roughly half.
Deals and demos kept coming: Georgia Power and Google struck a nuclear-uprate subscription projected to deliver about $900 million in benefits for all customers; Kairos Power paired with Samsung C&T and Israel's nT-Tao teamed with Orion Nuclear on compact fusion for data centers; Heron Power signed a storage-inverter pilot with RWE; Rock Tech Lithium brought in Siemens Canada for a digital-twin lithium converter; and Cirba Solutions and General Motors ran the first GM EV batteries built from 100% recycled minerals. In the field, Exus Renewables finished repowering two Pennsylvania wind farms (about $356 million), JUWI brought a 110 MW Colorado solar project online, Envision Energy energized Morocco's first large-scale battery system at an OCP mine, Qnetic began testing its full-scale flywheel, and ONSITE Utility wiped out $466,000 in demand charges for a California food distributor with graphene batteries and solar.
💧 In the water
Beyond the H2O America and EYKON deals, Rainmaker's $100 million round put weather modification firmly on investors' radar. Solenis signed an exclusive deal to fold Moleaer's nanobubble technology into its polymer program, promising 10–40% less polymer use across water and wastewater treatment.
Policy moved too: California Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency to let water agencies prepare for a forecast "Super El Niño" winter — a step the Association of California Water Agencies welcomed as a way to fast-track flood-protection and groundwater-recharge work.
🌱 In the field
ADM said it will enter the voluntary carbon market with more than 800,000 tons a year of engineered CO2 removal, capturing biogenic CO2 from its [Columbus, Nebraska] corn mills and storing it via partner Tallgrass. New products crowded the shelf: New Holland unveiled two tractors at the Pakistan Auto Show, ADAMA launched its Actagon herbicide for Indian wheat growers, and Redox Bio-Nutrients added its RDX-Flex foliar nitrogen product.
Elsewhere, Ukraine's Kernel added 40,000 tons of modular grain storage as strikes squeeze Black Sea export routes; Planet Labs opened a 5,700-square-meter satellite factory in [Berlin, Germany] to build up to 60 Earth-observation satellites a year; Bestzyme started up what it calls the world's first dedicated sweet-protein production line in [Jinan, China]; Edible Garden won a new Walmart distribution award for the Upper Midwest; precision-ag names Flourish Systems (with Quebec's Origine Nature) and Vivent (with Belgium's Arvesta) expanded deployments; and Spain's Agrobio said it cleared a key biological-control production bottleneck with CDTI and EU (ERDF) grant backing.
