👋 Welcome back. This week the industry's biggest names did some serious restructuring — Corteva's board approved spinning off its seed business into a new company called Vylor, BASF lined up four investment banks to prep an IPO of its Agricultural Solutions unit, and a decades-old horticulture distributor is heading to auction after bankruptcy. Grab a coffee; this is a corporate-structure kind of week.
☕ This Week's Paid Edition: Cash Crop
Cash Crop, this week's cross-sector recap from the iGrow Network, tracked Holtec Nuclear's IPO push at a roughly $10.2 billion valuation, Franklin Electric's up-to-$400 million purchase of pump maker Cat Pumps, Mitti Labs' Google-backed rice-methane carbon deal, and Agreena's record 4.45 million-tonne soil-carbon agreement across Kazakhstan — a full sweep of the energy, water and carbon deals shaping the broader iGrow universe this week.
I. Weekly Pulse: The Impact Scorecard
Corteva Spins Off Vylor: Corteva's board approved distributing its seed operating segment into a new independent, publicly traded company named Vylor ahead of an October 1 separation, splitting the crop-protection and seed businesses into two focused public companies.
BASF Preps Agricultural Solutions IPO: BASF mandated Citi, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs and J.P. Morgan to prepare a Frankfurt listing for its Agricultural Solutions unit, which posted €9.6 billion (about $11.1 billion) in 2025 sales, targeting IPO readiness by mid-2027.
IDEXX Buys CoVetAI: IDEXX Laboratories agreed to acquire CoVetAI, adding AI-native ambient-listening and clinical-workflow tools to its veterinary diagnostics and software ecosystem.
BFG Supply Heads to Auction: BFG Supply Co., a 54-year-old horticulture and lawn-and-garden distributor, set a date to auction substantially all of its assets following its August Chapter 11 filing alongside 16 affiliated companies.
Robigo Closes Series A: Robigo raised a Series A led by Leaps by Bayer, with Illumina Ventures, SVG Thrive, Congruent Ventures and Endeavor8 participating, to advance engineered biological crop-protection technology.
II. Tier 1: Corporate & Financial Shifts
This was one of the densest M&A and financing weeks iGrow News has tracked this year, with more than a dozen deals crossing the M&A or growth-financing threshold. Agriculture supplied the two biggest structural stories: Corteva's board approved distributing its seed segment into a new standalone company, Vylor, ahead of an October 1 separation — the platform is already forecasting $500 million in North America wheat revenue by 2035 and $1 billion by 2040, plus roughly $500 million in incremental soybean revenue by the same date. Days later, BASF mandated Citi, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs and J.P. Morgan to prepare a Frankfurt Stock Exchange listing for its Agricultural Solutions business — €9.6 billion ($11.1 billion) in 2025 sales and roughly 80% already carved into standalone legal entities — with a Capital Markets Day set for November 24, 2026. [Structural Impact]: both moves point to the same thesis, that seed and crop-protection businesses trade at a premium as standalone, pure-play entities rather than inside diversified chemical and materials conglomerates.
Consolidation also hit distribution and animal health. IDEXX Laboratories agreed to acquire CoVetAI, folding AI-native veterinary workflow intelligence into its diagnostics platform, while BFG Supply Co., a 54-year-old horticulture distributor, set an asset-auction date after its Chapter 11 filing — a bankruptcy that follows a wave of horticulture-distributor failures and signals real stress in that supply channel. Nature's Miracle Holding moved the other direction, agreeing to divest its Visiontech grow-light subsidiary to an undisclosed buyer to refocus on AI infrastructure, in [Ontario, California]. On the funding side, Robigo closed a Series A led by Leaps by Bayer for engineered biological crop protection, while Mazama Energy ($135 million, geothermal) and Branch Energy ($33 million Series B, AI-linked power) pulled in the week's largest non-agricultural growth rounds. A further wave of M&A — spanning carbon accounting (Greenly–Normative), water utilities (Illinois American Water, Vortex Companies), drone services (ZenaTech's 29th roll-up acquisition), renewable-certificate infrastructure (Xpansiv–Formbay) and industrial pumps (Crane Company's $240 million purchase of Trillium Pumps US) — underscored just how much consolidation capital moved across the broader iGrow universe this week.
III. Tier 2: Innovation & Public Strategy
1. Go-to-Market & Product Launches
TSRgrow expanded its GROWHub intelligent cultivation software with advanced analytics and Metrc seed-to-sale integration, giving commercial cannabis and controlled-environment growers deeper compliance visibility. Vylor, Corteva's soon-to-separate seed business, confirmed its hybrid wheat platform remains on track for a 2027 launch and outlined a next-generation soybean lineup targeting Latin America through broad-spectrum insect-control traits. In the field, The More Life Company reported third-party trial results showing its licensed Agrarius plant-signaling technology lifted potato yields up to 32.5% in Brazil, and Central Life Sciences introduced a customizable grain-protection protocol to defend stored-grain value. On equipment, New Holland unveiled a retrofit GPS guidance kit compatible with tractors up to 35 years old and a redesigned T7 tractor lineup in [Woodstock, Ontario, Canada], while Jaylor launched three new single-auger TMR mixers using about 20% less horsepower than conventional designs.
2. Institutional & Regulatory Plays
Pivot Bio praised the U.S. Treasury, IRS, DOE and USDA for finalizing guidance that operationalizes the 45Z Clean Fuel Production Tax Credit for regeneratively grown corn, letting ethanol producers claim credits tied to lower synthetic-nitrogen inputs — a policy move that de-risks farmer adoption of biological nitrogen products. Alveo Technologies partnered with Alliance Global to expand its rapid, on-farm avian-influenza diagnostic testing across Africa, Central Asia and part of the Eastern Mediterranean as outbreaks accelerate globally. Tri-Cities Intermodal and Great Northwest Transport formed a logistics alliance linking trucking and rail through [Wallula, Washington], easing winter apple-export bottlenecks over mountain passes into Idaho and western Montana. Tower Garden and the Whole Foods Market Foundation donated 200 aeroponic growing units to U.S. elementary schools for hands-on nutrition education.
IV. Tier 3: Market Signals & Operations
Research, Studies & Lawsuits: Finland's VTT Technical Research Centre, working with Finnish food companies under the RETHINK project, identified what the plant-based ingredient sector needs to move from technical development toward a profitable, commercially viable business beyond protein-only formulations.
Organizational Health: BW Fusion named Dean Williams Chief Executive Officer to lead its next growth phase across its biologicals and Agronomy 365 platform; Disco Cow won the second annual Midwest Dairy Accelerator's grand prize and $20,000 in funding; and Gotham Greens named a new Chief Commercial Officer and expanded its retail sales organization as part of its national growth push.
