Happy Friday, and welcome back. Two crop-input companies took full control of businesses this week: BRANDT bought Mexico's Altiara outright, and BioFirst Group closed out the last of Biotrop. Add a robotic pollination Series A, a run of harvest-season launches and a new Florida greenhouse build, and there's plenty to get through.

This Week's Paid Edition: Low Country

Our latest Trends Analysis turns to the Netherlands, comparing 114 land-based agriculture and agtech records from 1 January to 26 September 2026 with 104 in the same 2025 window. Recorded capital into Dutch companies and projects rose from $48.6M to $170.3M, although FrieslandCampina's whey protein program accounts for 60.8% of it. Ownership changes rose from seven to eleven, partnerships fell in both count and share, and North America went from one named destination market to seven. The edition sets out what to watch through 2027.

I. Weekly Pulse: The Impact Scorecard

  • BRANDT Acquires Altiara: BRANDT bought all shares of the Mexican maker of specialty nutrition products, bio-solutions and adjuvants. It plans to manufacture in Mexico for shipment across Latin America.

  • BioFirst Takes 100% of Biotrop: BioFirst Group bought the remaining 14.71% of the Brazilian biologicals company from Aqua Capital and Zempar, well ahead of the original schedule. That completes a deal first struck in 2023 at an enterprise value of BRL 2.8 billion (EUR 532 million).

  • Darling Sells CTH Casings to SARIA: Darling Ingredients closed the sale of its sausage casings business to Germany's SARIA Group. Proceeds go toward debt reduction.

  • BloomX Raises a $13M Series A: Elah Fund led the round in the Israeli robotic pollination company. The kibbutzim that invested separately plan to be early adopters of its orchard platform.

  • Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners Invests in Via Verde: The first deal for CIP's Advanced Bioenergy Fund II backs a 20-project Italian biomethane pipeline. Each plant is designed to process 60,000 to 100,000 tonnes of agricultural waste a year.

II. Tier 1: Corporate & Financial Shifts

BRANDT acquires Altiara. The U.S. specialty ag products maker and retailer bought all shares of Agrícola Innovación, S.A. de C.V., which sells nutrition products, OMRI-listed bio-solutions, plant protection products and adjuvants, mainly in Mexico and Central America. Terms were not disclosed. The business becomes "Altiara, A Brandt Company" inside Brandt International [Pachuca, Mexico], keeps all its employees, and former CEO Francisco Ortiz becomes Managing Director Mexico Integration. Structural Impact: local manufacturing gives Brandt a Latin American cost base for specialty inputs.

BioFirst completes the Biotrop buyout. The Belgian group [Westerlo, Belgium], formerly Biobest, bought about 85% of Biotrop in 2023, with the remaining 15% due after a three-year transition. It has now taken that stake early, on undisclosed terms. Structural Impact: Aqua Capital gets its exit, and a European biocontrol group now fully owns a Brazilian biologicals platform.

Darling Ingredients divests CTH. The CTH casings business joined SARIA's Food & Pharma division on October 1, price undisclosed. Structural Impact: Darling is narrowing its portfolio to its core segments and using the proceeds to pay down debt.

BloomX $13M Series A. Elah Fund led the round, joined by Rothschild, OurCrowd and Sadot, the Granot Organization's agtech fund. Kibbutzim Magal, Horashim and Eyal invested directly. The money will go toward adoption of its YAHAV2400 platform, new crops and geographies, and a managed pollination service. Structural Impact: the investors include growers who will also be its customers.

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners invests in Via Verde. It is the first deal for CIP's Advanced Bioenergy Fund II: a 20-project pipeline in Lombardy, Abruzzo and Campania [Italy]. Each plant will process 60,000 to 100,000 tonnes of agricultural waste a year. Structural Impact: infrastructure capital is treating farm residues as a bankable feedstock.

III. Tier 2: Innovation & Public Strategy

1. Go-to-Market & Product Launches

Antobot unveiled the U502 at Fruit Attraction in Madrid. It is a UV-C robot that treats several rows of soil-grown strawberries for powdery mildew, with commercial launch due in 2027. BranValt [Brandon, Manitoba] launched a Dual Narrow Pan that measures combine grain loss in tall corn, sunflower and canola stubble. Soilytix [Hamburg, Germany] released LOAM, a set of genomic AI models trained on soil DNA, which it uses to find crop-protection candidates. iBOI, Acceleronix and Quectel launched an eSIM GPS cattle ear tag in Brazil that lets ranchers pledge tracked animals as collateral for livestock credit. Dhanuka Agritech launched Wetcit Neo, a plant-based adjuvant, in India. Bayer's De Ruiter brought new Roma, grape tomato and cucumber varieties to the Canadian Greenhouse Conference. Addium [Pullman, Washington] launched AQUALAB 5TE, which measures water activity and moisture content in a single 60-second test.

2. Institutional & Regulatory Plays

Harvest Singularity broke ground on its $69 million greenhouse [Newberry, Florida], which is backed by a $5.6 million Florida Job Growth Grant for site infrastructure. Napa wineries including Opus One and Dominus Estate pledged $2.5 million to a red blotch virus research program administered by the American Vineyard Foundation. When public bodies and growers fund the early infrastructure and science, private investors carry less of that risk. Pairwise licensed its Fulcrum CRISPR platform to Belgium's Rainbow Crops, a move ahead of the EU genomic techniques rules that open a route for precision-bred crops from 2028. Schweizer Zucker picked MyEasyFarm to collect Scope 3 data from its sugar beet growers. Edible Garden won a Walmart holiday herb program, Neogen took an equity stake in Hinalea Imaging, and Signify reported first-year results from FreFarm's cucumber propagation facility in South Korea.

IV. Tier 3: Market Signals & Operations

  • Research, Studies & Lawsuits: Enko Chem [Mystic, Connecticut] said its ENKOMPASS platform found new fungicide and insecticide modes of action, so it now covers all three crop protection categories. The Purdue University/CME Group Ag Economy Barometer fell 12 points to 123 in September, and a record 52% of producers named input costs as their top concern.

  • Organizational Health: AGCO cut its executive team by one seat, with Stefan Caspari taking Fendt/Valtra, Luis Felli Massey Ferguson and Damon Audia PTx. J.R. Simplot named Erik Brandenburg President of Simplot Global Food, and Bayer named Innocent Konan Managing Director for West and Central Africa. New Holland won three awards and Case IH one at the EIMA technical innovation awards [Bologna, Italy].
